Sheryl Byrd presents at National Student Affairs Conference

2014 Apr 9

Dr. Sherryl Byrd, vice president for Student Affairs, and Martha Harper, coordinator of the Adult and Nontraditional Student Center, recently presented an extended pre-conference session at the 96th annual conference of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA). The program titled "Advocating as a Tool for Transforming the Student Experience for Adult Learners and Students with Children" was presented with other colleagues from DePaul University (Ill.), Norwalk Community College (Conn.) and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Responding to the increasing number of adults enrolled in higher education, the session focused on methods to best serve this population, how institutions have addressed and transformed the experience for nontraditional students, and provided a framework for participants to develop plans to fit the needs of their own campuses.
