Order of Omega Case Study Competition Winner

Two brothers of the Zeta Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order, competed in the Order of Omega Case Study competition at the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference Leadership Academy. They placed first place in the competition on February 23, 2014.

Sam Mynhier was elected to the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference Executive Board for 2014-2015. Mynhier is the first APSU student in the organization's 48-year history elected to the Executive Board.

Completed Term as Assistant Executive Director of Vendors and Associate Member Programs

Stephen Dominy, coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, completed his term as assistant executive director of vendors and associate member programs of the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference. He will continue his tenure next year as the assistant executive director of registration, where he will work with Mynhier to elevate registration and membership engagement for the conference and leadership academy.

Spring 2014 Faculty Leadership Program

The Faculty Leadership Program offers an opportunity for faculty, nominated by their chairs and selected by a committee composed of members of the Deans Council, to learn about different administrative responsibilities, available resources, campus initiatives, trends in higher education and other details that would help them serve as knowledgeable representatives and leaders of Austin Peay. Accepted applicants meet once a week in the spring semester for an all-day, campus-led immersion program.

APSU students earn award for research on Autism Spectrum Disorders

In November, APSU students Tiffany Anderson and Kelsea Keith won the Best Poster Presentation award at the Fall Conference of the Tennessee Association of School Psychologists at Montgomery Bell State Park. Their research compared the recently published definition of Autism Spectrum Disorders in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: Fifth Edition (DSM-5) with the Tennessee State Department of Education's definition of Autism.

APSU engineering technology major Brittani Littlejohn was named president of the new APSU chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. The new NAHB chapter is the first APSU organization to serve students pursuing degrees in construction and civil engineering technology.

CHARACTER COUNTS is a recognition program developed to publicly thank and congratulate those who significantly go above-and-beyond for the APSU family and/or Clarksville community. Any APSU student, faculty or staff may nominate any APSU family member. Each recipient will receive a CHARACTER COUNTS wrist band, official certificate, and recognized on the APSU Student Life and Engagement web page.

The Dance Marathon Overall Committee at Austin Peay State University plans the annual fund raiser to support the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. This year, over $15,000.00 was rasied by students, faculty, staff, and friends of APSU.
