Two brothers of the Zeta Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order, competed in the Order of Omega Case Study competition at the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference Leadership Academy. They placed first place in the competition on February 23, 2014.

Sam Mynhier was elected to the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference Executive Board for 2014-2015. Mynhier is the first APSU student in the organization's 48-year history elected to the Executive Board.

Stephen Dominy, coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, completed his term as assistant executive director of vendors and associate member programs of the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference. He will continue his tenure next year as the assistant executive director of registration, where he will work with Mynhier to elevate registration and membership engagement for the conference and leadership academy.

The All State, Austin Peay State University's student newspaper, was ranked No. 4 in the South on Feb. 21 at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference, held Feb. 20-22 at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Victor Felts, APSU Director of Student Life and Engagement and member of the Eta Xi Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity, has served the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference for 15 years, including eight years as executive director.

The Austin Peay State University Honors Program attended the Tennessee Collegiate Honors Council state conference with 13 students, six of whom gave presentations. These six students are as follows: Ashley Burke, Chris Coppedge, Tiffany Anderson, Abbi Wilt, Janey Lindsey and Gwendolyn Hay.

Austin Peay State University newspaper staff member Christy Walker ranked No. 1 for editorial cartoons in the Best of the South Competition during the Southeast Journalism Conference, Feb. 20-22, at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Austin Peay State University newspaper staff member David Hoernlen ranked No. 3 for news/graphic illustration in the Best of the South Competition during the Southeast Journalism Conference, Feb. 20-22, at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Faculty Leadership Program offers an opportunity for faculty, nominated by their chairs and selected by a committee composed of members of the Deans Council, to learn about different administrative responsibilities, available resources, campus initiatives, trends in higher education and other details that would help them serve as knowledgeable representatives and leaders of Austin Peay. Accepted applicants meet once a week in the spring semester for an all-day, campus-led immersion program.

The Chair Leadership Program offers an opportunity for departmental chairs to learn about and discuss initiatives, strategies and tactics that can help them serve as effective leaders in a complex, changing environment.

The Faculty Teaching Program offers a weekly opportunity for faculty, nominated by their chairs and selected by the Faculty-Development Planning Committee, to study and discuss various teaching strategies that can enhance student success.

During the 2013 winter break, 50 Austin Peay State University students traveled abroad and took courses in areas such as biology, classics/art history, communications, English/literature/theatre and management. The trip was coordinated by The Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA).

On December 13, 2013 over 800 students participated in the largest winter commencement ceremony in the University's history.

The Office of Disability Services recognizes the volunteer note-takers from Fall 2013 with an Achievement Award.

Each month, the Office of Student Life and Engagement honors a student for their positive contributions to Austin Peay State University and for demonstrating noteworthy leadership skills. Students are nominated by student organizations who have witnessed first-hand these students' leadership abilities. Criteria include: 1.Ethical leadership principles and practices 2.Collaboration and problem solving 3.Commitment and action

Twenty-six Austin Peay State University students were selected for Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges for the 2013-2014 academic year.

In November, APSU students Tiffany Anderson and Kelsea Keith won the Best Poster Presentation award at the Fall Conference of the Tennessee Association of School Psychologists at Montgomery Bell State Park. Their research compared the recently published definition of Autism Spectrum Disorders in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: Fifth Edition (DSM-5) with the Tennessee State Department of Education's definition of Autism.

APSU engineering technology major Brittani Littlejohn was named president of the new APSU chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. The new NAHB chapter is the first APSU organization to serve students pursuing degrees in construction and civil engineering technology.

CHARACTER COUNTS is a recognition program developed to publicly thank and congratulate those who significantly go above-and-beyond for the APSU family and/or Clarksville community. Any APSU student, faculty or staff may nominate any APSU family member. Each recipient will receive a CHARACTER COUNTS wrist band, official certificate, and recognized on the APSU Student Life and Engagement web page.

The Dance Marathon Overall Committee at Austin Peay State University plans the annual fund raiser to support the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. This year, over $15,000.00 was rasied by students, faculty, staff, and friends of APSU.

The Student Organization Council (SOC) oversees the registration and operations of the 120+ student organizations at Austin Peay State University. Four student leaders serve as the executive board.
